Publish a Captivate demo to YouTube

Once you have created and tested your demonstration video, you are ready to publish it to YouTube. To publish to YouTube, you must have a Google account, such as a Gmail account. If you don't have one, you can sign up free at

While Captivate offers a way to publish directly to YouTube, the method isn't always reliable. You should consider, instead, publishing your demo to an MP4 file and then uploading the file through the YouTube website.

When you publish your demonstration videos to YouTube, if you don't want to make your video publicly available, you can set your video as unlisted. If you follow this approach, only those people you give the URL to can see your demo.

To upload the MP4 file to YouTube

  1. Open a web browser, and go to
  2. If necessary, click Sign in, enter your Google account information, and then click Sign in.

If you're using a public computer, clear the Stay signed in check box for your security.

  1. Click the Upload button Upload button.
  2. Click Select files to upload, navigate to the location of your MP4 file, click the file, and then click Open.
  3. On the Basic info tab, change the title, description, and tags as appropriate for your project.
  4. On the Advanced settings tab, make any changes you desire.
  5. Click Publish.

To change your video setting from Public to Unlisted (optional)

  1. Click the menu button menu button, and then click My channel.
  2. Click Video Manager, and then click the Public button Public button next to your video.
  3. Under the Basic info tab, in the list next to the video title, change the setting from Public to Unlisted.

To discover the URL for your video

  1. Click the menu button menu button, and then click My channel.
  2. Click Video Manager.
  3. Click the link to your demonstration video.
  4. Locate the Video URL box on the right side of the screen.
